Who I am

Byron Technologies is run by Adam Byron. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the controller of the personal information you send through this website. You can reach me at adam@byrontechnologies.com.

Business address: [Business address to be added].

What this covers

This policy explains what I collect when you use byrontechnologies.com, why I collect it, how long I keep it, and the rights you have. It is written for the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What I collect

If you send the enquiry form, I collect:

  • Your name
  • Your business name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you choose to give it
  • Your website, if you choose to give it
  • Which kind of help you ticked, and the message you wrote

The host of this website may also keep ordinary technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running. I don’t use those logs to build a profile of you.

Why I use it

I use enquiry details to reply to you, to prepare a clickable preview of your new site if you’ve asked for one, and to arrange a call if you want one. The lawful bases are legitimate interests (responding to a message you sent) and steps taken at your request before a contract.

I don’t sell your information. I don’t use it for a mailing list unless you have asked me to keep in touch, and you can tell me to stop.

Who else sees it

The site is hosted on Vercel. If email delivery is switched on, the enquiry is sent through Resend to adam@byrontechnologies.com. If it isn’t switched on, the message is written to the server log so it isn’t lost, and it is not passed to an email provider.

If you use the booking calendar, that page is provided by Cal.com or Calendly, and their own privacy notice applies to what you type there.

These providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, I rely on the safeguards they offer, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry correspondence for up to 24 months, so I can pick up the thread if you write again. If we start working together, I keep what I need for the work, for tax, and for any question that comes up afterwards, then delete it when I no longer need it.

Cookies

This site uses only cookies that are strictly necessary to make the pages work. There are no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies at the moment. If that changes, I’ll update this policy and ask where the law says I should.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

  • Tell you what I hold about you, and give you a copy
  • Correct it
  • Delete it
  • Restrict how I use it, or stop using it for a particular reason
  • Give you a portable copy of what you provided

Write to adam@byrontechnologies.com. I may need to confirm it’s you. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. I’d like the chance to put it right first.

Example sites

On the example sites, anything you type into a chat, booking or reservation stays in your browser. It is not sent to me, and it is not a real appointment.
